Oral and Maxillo-Facial Surgery deals with the diagnosis and surgical management of the diseases, injuries and defects of the human jaws and associated structures. Specialist services include:
- Dento-alveolar surgery
- Temporomandibular joint disease
- Dental service for patients with cognitive impairments that lead to more intensive support needs for treatment
- Reconstructive pre-prosthetic surgery including endosseous dental implants
- Orthognathic surgery
- Salivary gland disease
- Facial bone trauma
Oral and Maxillo-Facial surgery accepts referrals from General Dental Practitioners, General Medical Practitioners, other Hospital Consultants and tertiary referrals from within and outside the North West Region - e.g. for Endosseous dental implants. The outpatient facility, which is shared with Orthodontics, has six treatment rooms.
