New Women and Children's Building: latest
Did you know that we will soon have a new Women and Children’s building, which is 1/3 bigger than currently? It will include maternity, neonatal, paediatrics, gynaecology services and more.
The new space will provide increased capacity and additional modern rest spaces for patients, families and staff to enjoy, supporting a holistic and family-centred approach to care.
Our teams are working hard to plan the complex task of moving in for summer. This sounds simple, but the challenge includes:
- Installing over 2,500 pieces of equipment
- Getting more than 500 staff from one building to another
- Setting up 54 en-suite bedrooms
- Transporting up to 45 beds of patients across
- Ensuring everyone knows where their new workstation is, how to use some of the new equipment, and knows their way around the building.
All of this will ensure a smooth transfer to opening, to keep patients well cared for and safe.
We are currently in the final stages of getting ready to move in, with equipment now being ordered and landscaping taking place outside.
Watch this space for more information about this amazing new building and when it will open – working together to build a great future for everyone.
